Stepan Sultanov, Partner and Head of KIAP’s International Commercial Arbitration Practice, opened the VI RISА & Young IMA Summer Academy as a speaker. The Academy is taking place from August 18 to 22, 2025, for young professionals in the field of arbitration.
Stepan delivered a lecture titled “Arbitration and Other ADR Methods. Institutional vs. Ad Hoc Arbitration”. The audience learned about main types of ADR, methods of their combination, and also participated in a mock mediation.
The Academy’s goal is to present the theory of arbitral proceedings in an accessible and engaging way, reinforcing it with practical aspects to help reinforce the acquired knowledge. Among the invited speakers are partners and lawyers from well-known law firms, practicing arbitrators, and university professors. The academy’s program includes discussions on topics such as: “Formation of the arbitral tribunal, conflict of interest”, “Evidence and proof: document preparation and disclosure”, “Interim measures in arbitration and the role of state courts”, and others. As a supplement to the theoretical part, participants will also take part in workshops.
