On March 14-15, 2019 the Russian national Committee of the International chamber of Commerce – world business organization (ICC Russia) with the support of VTB Bank (PJSC) held the annual conference "Documentary business and international settlements: main trends, challenges and perspectives ".
This year, the traditional theme of the guarantee business has been supplemented by relevant issues of digitalization of transactions in trade finance, legal regulation, compliance and practice of working with documentary credits.
During the event, the main topics for discussion were global trends and risks in the international trade, issues of state regulation of financial technologies related to international settlements, novelties of the Russian legal framework and the practice of dispute resolution on letters of credit and guarantees, infrastructure transformation in international trade and other topics.
KIAP, Attorneys at Law, was represented at the conference by Anna Grishchenkova, partner of the dispute resolution and international commercial arbitration practice, and Roman Suslov, senior assocaite of banking and financial practice. Anna spoke at the session "Practice of dispute resolution on letters of credit and guarantees" on the topic of court practice and practice in international arbitration in disputes between the beneficiary and the principal on independent guarantees. "Despite the fact that our session was the final one, it turned out to be very rich and lively because of the involvement and genuine interest of the audience," Anna said.
The conference brought together representatives of government agencies, banks, exporting and importing companies, experts in international trade, lawyers and providers of innovative technological solutions.
