Winners Announced for the Scientific Research Paper Competition among the Students at the SAFU’s Legal Institute

On November 2, 2012 the results of the scientific research paper competition on the matters of antimonopoly legislation conducted among the students of the Legal Institute of the Northern (Arctic) Federal University (SAFU) have been announced. As it has become a tradition, the competition was organized by Korelskiy, Ischuk, Astafiev and Partners, Attorneys at Law.

The competition’s Experts Panel Committee consisted of the partners of the Firm, lecturers of the SAFU’s Legal Institute, heads of legal departments of Russian and international companies.

The winners of the competition are:

I prize Anastasia Stcherbakova, on a subject of: Interpretation of the Term “Discriminating Conditions” in Light of Existing Court Precedents.

II prize Ekaterina Zmyvalova, on a subject of: Interpretation of the Term “Discriminating Conditions” in Light of Existing Court Precedents.

III price Anastasia Nikolaeva, on a subject of: Legal Grounds for Recovery from the State for the Losses Caused Due to a Violation of the Anti-Monopoly Law by a State Governance Agency (Chapter 3 of the Law on Protection of Competition), Important Court Precedents and Prospects for Future Development Thereof.

Ilya Ischuk, the partner and the head of the antimonopoly practice group, said commenting on the results: “Antimonopoly regulations has recently become one of the fastest growing and the most promising legal segments in Russia. Beginning year 2006 the Federal Antimonopoly Service launched a number of legislative initiatives and now it is actively involved in establishing law enforcement precedents. We are glad that the important subject of the competition law has generated sufficient interest among the law students and the competition we organized gave the students a platform to showcase their best talents.”
