KIAP Attorneys at Law Engaging a New Partner to Strengthen Its Team: Julia Osadchaya Heads New Practice – Banking & Finance

The opening of the new practice area was driven by a growing interest of KIAP's clients in professional project support for banking & finance law and capital markets.

Julia Osadchaya, an international lawyer in banking & finance acknowledged by Chambers Global and Legal 500 EMEA, joined the KIAP as a partner to head the new practice. The main scope of business for the practice will be representing the interests of Russian and international financial institutions, banks and companies in various types of financing transactions (loans, facility agreements, debt and equity capital market transactions), supporting securitisation and structured finance as well as project finance transactions.

Before her appointment, Julia had worked as a vice president for the investment company Renaissance Capital. Julia also gained vast experience working as a lawyer for the Moscow and London offices of Baker & McKenzie, an international law firm, and, prior to that, for the Russian law firm Liniya Prava.

In 2010 Julia graduated from the University of London, Queen Mary, where she had studied banking & finance law and obtained Master's Degree (LL.M) with merits. Julia also graduated with honors from the International Law School of the Moscow State Institute for International Relations (University) in 2003.

Julia’s professional experience covers the dozens of successfully completed transactions: effective support of bond issuances for Russian companies under Russian and foreign law, domestic and offshore securitisation transactions with different types of underlying assets for a number of major Russian banks and companies, with some of those transactions pioneered on the Russian market, as well as domestic covered bonds issuance for several major Russian mortgage banks. In particular, Julia has advised on one of the first mortgage securitisation transactions for a major Russian bank providing for initial offering on MICEX of the notes issued under foreign law. Julia has also advised Russian and foreign companies on various types of derivatives and repurchase transactions. Other successful projects in the portfolio of the new partner of KIAP Attorneys at Law include project finance transactions in real estate and energy sector for a number of major foreign developers in Russia. In addition, Julia has a vast experience in lending transactions of varying complexity for Russian and foreign companies.
