Mikhail Samoylov speaks at conference "Bank lawyer: best practices in managing legal exposures of financial institutions"

On 5 February 2014 Moscow hosted an annual event, Bank Lawyer conference, organized by the Russian Business Forum. KIAP's senior lawyer Mikhail Samoylov spoke at the event on Arbitration vs. Arbitrazh (commercial) litigation as part of a debate on bank disputes and litigation risks. Mikhail described the pros, cons and prospects of arbitration and arbitrazh courts, their interaction, as well as interesting developments in case law. A focal point for the conference was provided by innovations in the law on consolidated bank compliance monitoring, which came into effect at the start of this year. The enactment is a major legislative initiative, which will facilitate risk mitigation in the Russian banking industry. The attendees also discussed the case law and major legal exposures in corporate and consumer lending, collateral and personal security, clearing operations and transactions in the capital market.

The conference was addressed by spokespersons for Federal Anti-monopoly Service of Russia, National Financial Market Council, banks such as UniCredit, ING Bank (Eurasia), Globexbank, Citibank, Leto Bank and others.
