KIAP’s New Service: Support for Aviation Industry Projects

Korelskiy, Ischuk, Astafiev and Partners, Attorneys at Law offers competent legal services to aircraft manufacturers, airlines, providers of aircraft repair and maintenance, airports and ground support providers, as well as investors, professional associations and unions.

The service range of the new section covers legal support for aircraft research and development, legal protection for research and development deliverables, registration and leasing of foreign and domestic aircraft, arrest and release, and taxation and insurance issues. Aviation industry clients will be served by a team of lawyers put together and led by the partner Anna Numerova and the senior associate-analyst Lina Taltseva.

Project experience of the Firm's team in the area of aviation includes consulting and representation of the interests of airlines such as Lufthansa, Turkish Airlines, Air France, Lufthansa-Cargo, British Airways, to name but a few, as well as advice provided to a major foreign air carrier on matters of compliance with the Russian competition law in forming an international alliance. Also, the Firm's experts provided support for a number of involved leasing disputes in the period between 2005 and 2011 in the interests of Russia’s major aircraft leasing company, Ilyushin Finance. Also the lawyers in the new section have extensive experience in comprehensive project support in aircraft design and modernization, incl. intellectual property security and protection: preparation of legal opinions on matters of assigning intellectual property rights to Russian aircraft to foreign parties (the Boeing company), drafting of contracts across the full range of aspects of the business of Russia's major air freight carrier, aviation patent research and other integrated projects.

The track record of the new team also includes legislation in the area of aviation: preparation of legal opinions on draft federal laws to amend the RF Air Code and on draft regulations of the RF Government, formulation of a position on the concept for the development of the RF aerodrome (airport) network for the period to 2020, expert evaluation of the concept for the development of the RF Transport Strategy for the period to 2030, development of a revised version of the Aviation Rules for Aircraft Certification (AP-21), as well as coordination with the Intergovernmental Council for Antitrust Policy to develop a model intergovernmental agreement on air traffic between CIS countries.
