During three days Russian and foreign speakers discussed various aspects of the creation, valuation, patenting and use of objects of the intellectual property and intangible assets, as well as current trends in the development of intellectual property in the digital economy. During the conference, heads of relevant ministries and departments, leaders of international professional communities and leading experts from major industry companies shared practical experience with the participants and talked about the most representative cases in the field of safety, protection and monetization of intellectual property.

Elena Buranova, Head of Intellectual Property practice of KIAP, Attorneys at Law, Russian registered Trademark attorney, spoke at the panel discussion “Protection of means of individualization in the digitalized environment”, during which experts examined the practical difficulties of judicial protection of rights, outlined the latest trends in judicial practice in domain disputes, and also discussed the possibility of protection of such "non-standard" digital means of individualization, like avatars, nicknames, accounts on social networks.

“I was very pleased with the quality of organizing of such a large-scale event, a wide range of topics that were discussed at the conference, but most of all, with the high level and genuine interest of the audience,” – Elena noted.

Elena also held a workshop for conference participants on Practical Issues of Combating Illegal Use of Trademarks on the Internet.

IP Academy is an international educational conference on intellectual property and patenting, which has been held at the Skolkovo Innovation Center since 2014. The purpose of the conference is to cover a wide range of relevant topics in the field of patenting, copyright and intellectual property protection in the digital age. The IP Academy became the successor of the famous Skolkovo Patent School, incorporating it’s best practices and traditions and significantly expanding the range of issues discussed. Within the framework of the conference, sessions, master classes and discussions are being held, during which participants have the opportunity to communicate and exchange experience with leading Russian and foreign experts in the field of IP, discuss practical problems of patent protection, main educational trends in IP, the impact of new technologies on intellectual property ownership and other relevant industry topics.
