Artem Gritsuk, Junior Associate of the International Commercial Arbitration practice at KIAP, participated as a member of the Arbitration Association (RAA) Working Group on monitoring court practice in the preparation of the Review of Court Practice on Arbitration and Cross-Border Litigation in Russia, Belarus, and Uzbekistan for the First Half of 2025.

The Working Group's activities are aimed at monitoring and analysing court decisions on disputes involving a foreign element, with a focus on arbitration. The Review can be useful for anyone wishing to learn about current trends in resolving such disputes.

The Review is divided into the following five categories of court decisions: general issues of international arbitration; recognition and enforcement of decisions (awards); sanctions disputes; application of foreign law; and maritime law. The Review includes the practice of the courts of Belarus and Uzbekistan on the topic of cross-border proceedings in a separate section, which is absent in the previous reviews of the Working Group.

Among the notable trends for the first half of 2025, the authors of the Review highlighted a decrease in the number of cases considered by arbitrazh (commercial) courts on the recognition and enforcement of foreign arbitral awards.

The Review in Russian is available at the link.
