CIArb (The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators) is a not-for-profit, UK registered charity working in the public interest through an international network of branches. Was registered in 1915. It has a global membership of around 12,500 individuals who have professional training or experience in alternative dispute resolution (ADR).

CIArb exists for the global promotion, facilitation and development of all forms of private dispute resolution around the world to maximise the contribution that dispute resolution practitioners make.

CIArb was granted a Royal Charter in 1979. The granting of the Royal Charter means that CIArb is governed by 'The Charter and Bye-Laws of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators'. The Charter empowers the Institute to accept candidates into membership who demonstrates "in all respects a fit and proper person" and relevant knowledge of alternative dispute resolution (ADR).

Membership in CIArb provides its members with the range of benefits such as access to a worldwide community of ADR professionals, global networking opportunities, as well as the possibility to receive professional advice and guidance including a dispute resolution advice service and authoritative practice guidelines.
