Elena Buranova spoke at the TASS online conference “Content of an event as an object of Intellectual property”

On April 20, 2020 the conference “Content of an event as an object of Intellectual property” organized by the TASS news agency was held in the form of an online streaming. The event became the second one in a series of issues of the online project “Conferences. Reloading ”, in which participants discuss current issues of the event industry.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, almost all ongoing events are being held online. A huge audience gains an access to the content online. Along with this, the risk of violating the rights of copyright holders increases. During the conference experts discussed the rules of posting the content online, as well as the important details of using intellectual property and personal data when organizing and conducting online events.

Elena Buranova, Head of KIAP IP Practice, spoke at the panel of speakers and together with other experts shared their thoughts with participants on what measures can and should be taken by the content providers to minimize the possibility of its illegal use, and what to do when the rights have already been violated.

During the broadcast, conference organizers also conducted interactive surveys among the participants. According to the results of one of such surveys, 57% of respondents faced a situation when their intellectual property was used without permission, and only a small part of the respondents managed to successfully defend their rights. In addition, 70% of the participants commended the practical value of the conference.
