Research Methodology
Pravo.Ru analysts examined 7,648 final rulings by Russian arbitration courts issued between January 1 and December 31, 2024. Only cases where firms participated as plaintiffs or defendants were considered, while claims for legal cost recovery and cases challenging denials of case reviews based on new evidence were excluded.
Firms were evaluated based on a combination of criteria, including:
- Total claim amount
- Number of cases handled during the research period
- Number of final court rulings
- Court outcomes
- Average claim amount, and more

Market Trends
In 2025, the number of court disputes in Russia continued to decline:
- Commercial cases decreased by 5%
- Bankruptcy cases dropped by 83%
- The average claim amount fell by 10%
Across all segments, a common trend emerged — rising litigation costs. Court fees increased, as did legal expenses. However, the changes go beyond just costs.
Experts note a more strategic approach by businesses toward disputes: instead of filing routine claims, the focus has shifted to well-planned strategies, with mediation and commercial arbitration gaining traction over traditional litigation. These shifts are reshaping the volume and nature of the litigation market.
