On 26 January, 2018 in Higher School of Law of National Research University Higher School of Economics KIAP Managing Partner Andrey Korelskiy held a master class devoted to “Legal Business Management” within the framework of Master’s Programme “Legal Management”.
The Master’s programme “Legal Management” is the first of its kind in Russia, covering three key areas within the modern sphere of law: legal business management (Legal Consulting), improving the effectiveness an organisation’s legal function (In-house) and innovative solutions in legal infrastructure (LegalTech).
Traditionally at universities, first of all, lawyers study legal theory: rules of law, their connections, judicial and law enforcement practice, etc. Today the lawyer’s job also requires the understanding of “how the profession works”: how does a legal service in organization work, how it cooperates with other departments, what’s the core of business of a firm, how does a manager take decisions. Moreover, today the world changes constantly – innovations penetrate the job of lawyers more and more extensively. These processes also affect legal professions. It is likely that some of them will disappear and new ones will be created. “Legal Management” – the first programme in Russia devoted to legal industry management including legal business and legal functions in organizations, and also to creation and development of its infrastructure. This is the programme for future leaders of the legal society.
