On February 10, 2020 Managing partner of KIAP Digital & Smart Andrey Korelskiy held a master class in the framework of the retraining program "Partner of a law firm. Head of a legal practice" at the Higher School of Law of the NRU HSE.
This program is created for an fulfilled professionals - partners, heads of practices, leading and senior lawyers, experts of law firms, legal advisers and leading specialists of legal departments of organizations, attorneys, as well as those who would like to take leading positions in a law firm or start their own legal services business. The objective of the program is the formation of systemic knowledge and competencies that are necessary to carry out a new type of professional activity in the field of management and allowing effective management of the practice of a law firm.
During the master class, Andrey Korelskiy shared with the audience the story of the creation of KIAP, told about difficulties and mistakes they had to overcome as the company grew and developed, what principles and goals united the partners, why not only money is important for partners, why proposals to become an ILF branch in Russia were not accepted, and also raised the topic of billing. The consolidation of KIAP, DS Law and Balashova Legal Consultants under one single brand, KIAP Digital & Smart, attracted a lot of interest. Andrey spoke about the reasons that prompted partners of different companies to unite, about the principles of unification and difficulties along the way. A lot of attention at the meeting was paid to the interaction of partners with associates and administrative staff. KIAP has built a transparent system of requirements and expectations from lawyers, which is correlated with the remuneration system and career prospects. The issues of finance, marketing, security, IT, organization of work in the office were also discussed.
Master’s Programme "Management of Law Firms and Corporate Legal Departments" of the NRU HSE is the first of its kind in Russia, covering three key areas within the modern sphere of law: legal business management (Legal Consulting), improving the effectiveness an organisation’s legal function (In-house) and innovative solutions in legal infrastructure (LegalTech). "Management of Law Firms and Corporate Legal Departments" is the first program in Russia on the management of the legal industry, including the legal business and the legal function in organizations, as well as on the creation and development of its infrastructure. This is a program for future leaders in the legal community.
