On 19 November 2024, during the Annual RAA Arbitration Conference, the Arbitration Association (RAA) General Meeting took place, whereby new RAA Board for 2024-2028 was elected. As a result, 11 members have formed the Board. Among others, head of KIAP’s international arbitration practice Stepan Sultanov has become a Board member.
Stepan Sultanov is a leading expert in the area of complex international disputes. He represents clients both in litigation and international arbitration under the auspices of HKIAC, LCIA, ICC, VIAC, SCC, ICAC at the Russian Chamber of Commerce, RAC, and other arbitral institutions. Stepan is actively engaged in disputes related to construction, commodities (oil & gas products), distribution, and IT, and disputes whereby force majeure or hardship events arise. Stepan has vast experience in resolving disputes arising out of international sales of goods contracts and security bonds / guarantees. He has graduated from the U.S. leading dispute resolution LL.M. programme at Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution (Caruso), Pepperdine (CA, U.S.) under one of the world’s most prestigious academic scholarships. In 2024, Stepan successfully passed a New York Bar Exam.
Stepan focuses his practice and academic works on the issues of the Russian courts’ exclusive jurisdiction and antisuit injunctions under Articles 248.1 and 248.2 APC RF (‘Lugovoy Law’).

Since 2016, KIAP’s Managing Partner Andrey Korelskiy, was the Board’s member. He was also one of RAA’s founders.
