Anna Grischenkova acted as a moderator during a conference “International Arbitration in the Spotlight: from Tokyo to New York”

On March 20th, 2017 in Moscow, LF Academy and Arbitration Center at ANO “ISA” hosted a conference “International Arbitration in the Spotlight: from Tokyo to New York”. Anna Grischenkova, KIAP partner, was a moderator of the session “International Arbitration in the Eyes of Russia. Deoffshorization and Recent Arbitration Reform: Which Arbitration Institutions Do Parties Choose Now?”. After the reform Russian arbitration institutions have gained new prospects for development, in particular due to high level of professionalism demonstrated by legal practitioners and businessmen – such encouraging and yet cautious conclusions have been made during the session.

According to LF Academy and the Arbitration Center at ANO “ISA” over the past several years nearly all respected foreign arbitration institutions have amended their Arbitration Rules. And, as the hosts of the event have remarked, multi-party and multi-contract arbitration, as well as consolidation, have been the primary focuses of these changes. The leading Russian arbitration institutions also consider such innovations and, basing on the foreign experience, propose equally effective and convenient arbitration rules. These innovations, both foreign and Russian, have been scrutinized by the representatives of foreign and Russian arbitration institutions during the first session of the Conference.

As the hosts remark, amendments to arbitration rules are followed by changing practicalities of arbitration, especially in the filed of interaction between the arbitrators, the parties and their representatives. In this regard the experience of foreign arbitration specialists who have already experienced the effects of new amendments is becoming especially demanded. During the second session the participants have also discussed approaches to the most common and pressing challenges that arise in the course of international arbitration.
