The WEALTH Navigator "Lawyers for Private Capital" ranking researches and ranks law firms that work with high-net-worth individuals. In 2026, it covered 14 main practice areas and more narrow sub-categories — ranging from Russian and international asset structuring, tax and sanctions law, to financial transactions, family and inheritance planning, bankruptcy, dispute resolution, and migration matters. In 2026, the most competitive practice area turned out to be asset structuring in Russia, with 43 firms represented in that category.
The long list for this year's study included 103 law firms, which submitted over three thousand projects. To date, this is the largest study of the Russian legal market in private wealth.
Private Wealth market trends
The ranking structure reflects shifting demand from high-net-worth individuals. Coming to the fore are not only asset protection and resolution of existing disputes, but also the proactive construction of a resilient capital architecture: defining ownership and governance rules, preparing inheritance scenarios, reducing tax and sanctions risks, and protecting businesses from family and corporate conflicts.
One of the most sought-after tools remains private family foundations. They are increasingly used not just for consolidating and transferring assets, but also as a long-term infrastructure for managing family wealth.
Another notable trend is the high demand for tax planning, coupled with a relatively small number of participants in the nomination related to tax disputes. This points to a market shift toward preventive solutions: capital owners are seeking to adapt their ownership and operational structures in advance, rather than remedying the consequences of claims that have already arisen. At the same time, the Criminal Law Defense category has grown, while bankruptcy and dispute resolution practices remain in high demand.
