KIAP, Attorneys  at Law, became Partner of the first Summer Academy of the Russian Arbitration Center

On August 10, the first Summer Academy "International Arbitration in Russia and CIS" organized by the Russian Arbitration Center (RAC) was concluded. The Academy was attended by 20 listeners, carefully selected by the organizers on the basis of submitted applications on the RAC’s website. Students who beginning with the classes had at least two years of experience in dispute resolution in arbitration, mediation or state courts were invited to participate in the training.

The Academy’s program consisted of lectures, workshops and masterclasses on international commercial and investment arbitration, mediation, the interaction of arbitration with state courts, etc. During the Academy courses participants got the opportunity to listen to unique masterclasses on maritime and sports arbitration, arbitration in corporate disputes and in IP. Speakers were additionally focused on practical skills in drafting memorandums, selecting arbitrators, dealing with evidence and experts, preparing and conducting oral hearings.

The member of The Board of the Russian Arbitration Center and Litigation and International Commercial Arbitration Partner Anna Grishchenkova, acted as the mastermind of the Academy. “Based on my records, in Russia and in the CIS countries there is a great demand for such Academies, so I proposed to create an educational platform within the RAC,” - Anna shared on the idea of creating a project.

The speakers of the Academy were leading Russian and foreign experts in the field of alternative dispute resolution. KIAP, Attorneys at Law, was represented by Natalia Kisliakova, Associate of International commercial arbitration practice, speaking on sports arbitration for the partcipants, and partner Anna Grischenkova, who shared her experience in working with evidence and experts in International commercial arbitration.

The RAC highly assessed the results of the Academy and is already planning the II Summer Academy in 2020. “Even at this point we can presume that the educational project was successful, and there is a lot of new things ahead! We look forward to the next year, new participants and fascinating reports from professionals in the field of alternative ways of dispute resolution”, - the organizers of the Academy noted.
